The Matrix (+++)
One of the best movies of our time. Revolutionary special effects. An intruiging plot and concept. Great fight and action sequences. It was so good that even Keanu Reeves couldn’t ruin it. I can watch the fight scenes over and over again.

The Matrix: Reloaded (++)
Hard for a sequel to rival the original. And, I saw it so late that I had already heard a lot about it, a lot negative. Despite this, I thought it was good. The overuse of their special effect technique gets a little old, but the fight scenes are still fun to watch. The car chase was great. And, even though many people found it very confusing, I didn’t think the end was that hard to follow. Don’t ask me to explain it though, I’ll talk you in circles. Also, they should show us Trinity’s tits.

The Mexican
I don’t really have any complaints about this movie. It had a good cast…Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini…but it didn’t blow me a away. For some reason I just never bought into any kind of romance between Pitt and Roberts, so it was hard for me to care about either one of them. That rabid dog is good though.

Memento
I went to see this without knowing anything about it. It just happened it was the latest show and my girlfriend and I felt like seeing a movie. Goooood. That is just about all I want to tell you. If you don't know what it's about, don't worry, you'll like it. No big name actors or actresses, no great special effects. It's refreshing to see a movie with a plot that's different and actors who aren't super rich elite stars. Maybe it seemed good to me because I had no expectations, but it still ranks as one of the best I've seen in awhile.

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Try Mr. Smith goes to sleep. If this movie can't cure insomnia, nothing can.

Pearl Harbor
Better than Titanic. Plenty of battle scenes. Despite being a sappy summer blockbuster, I thought the movie addressed several good issues--such as sleeping with your dead friend's girl and being slaughtered by the Japanese. Cuba Gooding had a bit role, similar to Steven Segal's in Executive Decision (where he dies in the first fifteen minutes). I didn't like how they tried to make America a hero again in the end. How was America proud? Because Ben Affleck shot down six planes? Because of that little mission to bomb some factories? Come on, factories? Why not end on a somber note by showing more of the results of the attack. Leave the audience with a memory of how devestating it was. Also, they could have thrown in some more titties, just for good measure.

Pendulum
My dad picked this one out. There’s not much good about it. Should be a USA Channel made for tv movie, not something you rent. You do get to see one set of tits and watch two hot lesbians rub and touch on eachother. But having a “tough” “british” woman as the lead detective was stupid. Don’t waste your money, unless you’ve seen most every other movie in the store.

Pushing Tin
I like John Cusak. I like the idea of seeing what it’s like to work in an air traffic control tower. I was quickly bored and tired of the whole relationship story between Cusak, his wife and Billy Bob Thorton and his wife. Overall, a decent film that I watched partially in fast forward.

Reign of Fire
As far as movies about dragons destroying the world go, this one was entertaining. If you’re looking for a thought-provoking, meaningful movie, look elsewhere. But if you want to see some people in a castle fighting dragons, this is the way to go.

Red Planet
Better than I expected it to be. Val Kilmer is fairly good, the girl is pretty hot, a guy from Resevoir Dogs is in it, and some of the sci-fi concepts are pretty interesting(reference the crash landing on Mars and the discovery near the ending, which I will not ruin). Not the best space movie ever made, but rentertaining enough to watch. The robot item is good. The only criticism I have it that it spent too much time leading up to the most interesting parts and then just blasted right through those into the ending.

Remember The Titans
For a movie I thought would be real hokey and dumb, Titans was a pleasant surprise. Although I may be challenged on this, I thought one of the worst parts of the film was Denzel Washington. Sure he's a big star, and he did an alright job, but didn't he get some sort of award nomination for this movie? If he didn't, then good, cause he wasn't that good in it. The two football captains were good. The crazy little girl marching around the stands was good. The movie touched me and made me happy. It's nice to see a feel-good movie that doesn't make you want to vomit.

Resident Evil
A movie based on a video game starring no one. About flesh eating zombies. Sounds terrible. But it wasn’t. It had an element of mystery, quite a bit of drama and action. I didn’t find the plot that bad. I don’t know, maybe I wasn’t paying attention, but I actually kind of liked it. Plus, that girl in it is hot. What was she doing in that red dress? Who cares. If it’s on, you might as well watch it.

The Royal Tenenbaums
Great movie. One that was hyped up and did not disappoint me. Generally, I’m not a big Gene Hackman fan, and this may be no exception, but the cast of characters in this picture is top notch. Specifically Gene Hackman’s little spanish sidekick. That guy’s great. This is a movie I never get tired of watching. The DVD has great extra’s on it. Wes Anderson is a crazy, but brilliant person. I wish I was as smart as him.

The Secret Lives of Alter Boys
I was worried when someone picked this movie that I would spend my whole night watching boys get molested, but this turned out to be pretty damned good. The story of four friends who fashion themselves as comicbook characters. The movie goes back and forth from animated sequences to live action. One of those Caulken kids is in it, as is Jodi Foster. This one is worth seeing.

Sexy Beast
Not one I would have picked myself, but after a lot of talk about Ben Kingsly’s performance, I figured it’d be worth a look. And it was. While nothing outrageously good about it, the actors had british accents, which I like. And, Sir Ben did do a pretty damned good job playing the crazy criminal. It’s worth a look, but probably not a second look.

Shrek
Eddie Murphy and Mike Meyers teamed up in an animated feature film. I have to admit, I was smiling during most of the film and laughing the rest of the time. Shrek combines a simple plot and characters kids will like with great animation and enough adult jokes to keep grown-ups entertained. Though there were a few too many booger, fart and gross ogre jokes for my taste, the film is charming. Please note, this is the first and last time you will see the word "charming" on tlos.com. Funny to me, when Shrek goes to enter the castle and the guy in the giant mask runs away. Ha.

Signs
Despite a few loopholes in the plot and an ending that was less than pleasing, it was good. The setting and the building of drama throughout the movie was good, but in the end I just felt kind of let down. Not to give away the ending, but are you telling me aliens who built spaceships that could fly from wherever to earth couldn’t get through a broke-ass basement door. Come on.

S.W.A.T.
Let me preface this by saying that when I sat down in the theatre, I thought I was about to see Terminator 3. So, when I remembered that I missed T3 and instead bought tickets to SWAT (aka, when the title appeared) I was a little disappointed. And things never really got better. Not to say that SWAT was terrible, it just wasn’t that good. I guess after you’ve seen the same movie 100 times, it stops being interesting. You know almost exactly what’s going to happen at all times. And the main thing I was interested in, the SWAT team tactics, were completely abandoned for the movie’s finale. Despite a seemingly good cast, you couldn’t care less about the characters. Just rent it.

Tigerland
Rent it. It's about a vietnam boot camp where one man realizes the best way to stay alive in Vietnam is not to go. Great film. To me, at least.

Tomb Raider
Angelina Jolie. Good. Special effects and action scenes. Pretty damned good. Angelina Jolie. Good. There's not really much else to say. The plot was kind of lame. The film itself looked like somebody threw together a bunch of scenes in order to have a place for the action and Angelina. If you want a great movie, try something else. If you want to jerk off and then kickbox, this'll get you in the mood.

Traffic
Yes, this movie did bring to mind traffic. Sort of slow, not too much exciting happening, longer than I expected, and not a very exciting ending. Despite all the accolades, I didn't see what all the fuss was about. Micheal Douglas's character was a pussy, where he could have been a suave hard-ass. Benicio Del Who-o. How did that get best supporting actor? It kept me entertained, but I didn't jump up on my couch at the end and yell, "Fuck, that was a great movie." However, it did provide me with my new favorite line, which was "I want to have sex, then do a hit when we're both cuming." Ah, yes, do a hit. This movie did make me want to free-base and be a real rich drug smuggler.

Training Day
An enjoyable movie, probably a pretty good one to watch when you’re high. My only criticism was the Denzel was a little bit over the top, meaning I didn’t quite buy his character. If you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth a rent.

Waking The Dead
A good actor and actress, whose names I don't know, are good in this lovers meant to be but can't story. Though it was sometimes kind of slow, the idea of what happens when two souls are meant to be together but get irreparably seperated is fairly frightening. You see one good tit. There's a good monologue about losing your mind that I think would ring true to a lot of us at certain times in our lives. At the very least, this movie will make you think.

Wonder Boys
Quite good. I like Michael Douglas. Robert Downey Jr. is good. There is a lot of smoking dope and other substance abuse. It's about writing, which I like. A dog gets shot and a variety of other interesting things take place. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

X-Men 2
Growing up I like super heroes as much as the next guy, but the X-Men were my favorite. So it stands to reason I’d be looking forward to the sequel. And I was. Luckily, and unlike most recent movies, it didn’t disappoint. Even after hearing how good it was, I still walked away impressed. The introduction of Nightcrawler in the movie’s opening was great. Wolverine killing humans, great. Storm’s cleavage, great. The small glimpse of Colossus, great. I didn’t have any complaints about the movie, aside from wondering how Professor X was allowed into the prison to visit Magneto. All in all, if you’re at all a fan of X-Men, or enjoyed the first one, you should see this one. Also, the casting has been phenomenal. Hugh Jackman, Ian McClellan, Patrick Stewart, etc. They all need to sign on for future sequels, which are potentially endless (based on a million comic books).

Zoolander
I should have known better than to rent this. But, it was playing when I was in the store and one part made me laugh. If it's on cable, it's worth a watch. However, I'm sorry I paid $4 to watch it. Although it did teach me that there's more to life than being really really really rediculously good looking. A fact I often forget, since I am so handsome.
